Run your own remuneration research without having to do everything yourself

BMF

BMF uses the Compare to Compete Survey Tool for an annual remuneration and workforce benchmark. BMF owns the content and performs most of the operational work; C2C provides the configured research environment, implementation support and additional capacity when needed.

Why this case matters

BMF shows that a small internal team can remain in control of recurring remuneration research while using C2C for the infrastructure, implementation and extra capacity it does not want to maintain itself.

The challenge

BMF's remuneration research existed before the Survey Tool and relied on an Excel-based request. That approach required manual work, was difficult to scale and offered limited scope for returning individual feedback consistently.

Important process knowledge was also concentrated in one person. BMF wanted a process that its own team could operate while retaining access to C2C support.

The approach

The recurring remuneration research was implemented in the Survey Tool in 2019. BMF determines the content and largely conducts the research itself.

Participants receive an individual remuneration report in which their data can be viewed in the context of their region and the regional total. BMF can work with regional reports and a complete Excel dataset containing the remuneration and employee information required for its own analysis and use.

C2C supports the implementation and can assist with data collection or other operational work when BMF needs additional capacity.

Who does what?

BMF — Owns the content, participant relationship and most of the annual research operation.

Compare to Compete — Provides the configured Survey Tool, implementation and support, and can add operational capacity when required.

What the programme delivers

Members gain information they can use to put remuneration in market context. BMF gains a recurring member service without having to outsource the entire research process.

The case demonstrates the shared-operation model particularly well: software does not require the customer either to do everything alone or to outsource everything.

Next step

Could your team run more of its own remuneration research with the right infrastructure behind it?
